Why does it seem like every guy I see is 6'0"+?
#1
I was at the mall today, and i'm not some 5'6"-5'7" guy who measures wrong, but practically every guy was taller than me. I live in America, and I saw plenty of middle aged  men, I walked right past them to make sure I had a good vantage point, but seriously, it's getting ridiculous. It probably was just a tall group, but I literally only saw a few guys my height, and no surprise, they were at least 30. I live in the east, so it doesn't make sense for them to be so tall. It wasn't uncommon to see men who had a head on me, and given I had such a huge sample, there should have been many my height. Sure white people are tall, but it wasn't just a 2 inch difference, a lot of them had at least 4 inches on me and again it was the older men. I don't get why people say average height guys are trolling, just go to any gathering and you'll see enough men over 6 feet.

Most of my friends are 5'11"- 6'3" and whenever we go to Beverly Hills, I'm surprised how tall the people are there. I feel you. If I'm speaking purely on my personal experience, it makes you feel like 6 feet is just common there. Still, even at 5'9", a lot of men should be within your range.

Because people at malls are usually much wealthier than the average person. You may live in a tall area: perhaps Germans are the most common ethnic group in your city or your city is upper middle class. I find it very hard to believe that men below 5'10 are rare in America, especially among old men. I'm convinced this is confirmation bias, which is easy to fall for

I realize that, but I made a mental note and it was skewed quite heavily towards the taller men. They aren't rare, but they are far and few in between, and so many men should not be 4+ inches taller than me. I got that measurement because I came up to their nose, which is atleast that much. It definitely could be CB, but there were so many that there's a good change the average was much higher there. It probably is a combination of the area being upper middle class, Germanic ancestry and CB.

You can't generalize the entire US based on a mall. It was a tall mall, end of story.

The 5'9 average statistic includes illegal immigrants, refugees, and 80+ year olds who never leave their homes. The true average in America is 6'0

Remember that most Americans are ethnically German, and Germans are fucking giants

I'm not generalizing. There are more factors to it such as ancestry, area, and confirmation bias, and I already said it could be a combination of those things., so don't go saying i'm generalizing when I acknowledge there are many reasons.

Yea, but I already said most of the men who were tall were 30+, and it was pretty split racially. You and I seem to be the only ones waking up to this, averages never seem to actually be averages since they include people you won't be around.

I agree. It can just be bad luck, too. Even at my height 6'0.25 there are times I encounter pockets of very tall people in public and feel average or even short (rare, but it does happen). Overall though I feel my height is low-tall or the start of legit tall. There's no way the average American white man is 6'0.

What if the area is wealthy+German? Also this is anecdotal right? I believe it for sure either way.

Yes, it's anecdotal but takes into account the average height of their respective countries

Wealthy+German would be 6'0.5 from my experience

A head taller? You do know that's 9+ inches right? You're telling us you ran into a bunch of people who were 6'6"?

Funny because I haven't seen anyone taller than me in several months, and I assure you that I'm not a recluse.

What the hell are you talking about? Most White Americans are from the British Isles.

I'm not exactly sure how the CDC determines its stats, but I'm sure they DON"T include illegal immigrants, refugees and 80+ year olds who never leave their homes.  By the way, most Americans are NOT ethnically German.  The majority are ethnically EUROPEAN.  Although I'm not sure how long that's going to be true.
