What is the average height where you live?

This could be your opinion. It doesn't have to be the official statistics of your country. Or you could give the average height of your city/region

EDIT: Typo 5'11.5 not 5'11.6

like 5'9 probably. I live near Seattle so Asians and Hispanics bring the average down somewhat. When I lived in Pullman, WA (mostly white college town) the average was 5'10 easily.

I'm 5'10.5" and I'm very similar height or slightly taller than most guys so I think it's around 5'9.5" here in NY.

NYC seems like one of the shortest cities in the country. I don't think the average is as high as 5'9.5 unless the average American is 5'10.5+

I don't think there is any place in the US where the average is below 5'9. Even in diverse cities like LA/NYC the average is still 5'9-5'10. In more white areas, the avg is easily more than 5'10

Actually there are a lot of places where the average is under 5'9" in the US. Cities with large hispanic populations are all under 5'9" (sometimes under 5'8") and so is most of Hawaii.

How can it be one of the shortest cities when the majority of people are white or black?

The shortest cities would be the ones that are 75%+ hispanic like Laredo, Brownsville and El Paso of Texas, or Santa Ana, California. Cities that are 50% hispanic should all have a lower average height than NYC.

Yeah I guess if we include mid-sized cities near the border. But if we're only talking about major metropolitan areas, then NYC seems to be the shortest.

Even though LA is like 50% hispanic, the average still seems higher than NYC. Hispanics aren't all that short with an average of 5'8. Plus the white people in LA seem taller than NYC.
