What do you think about the "meat theory"?

Question
Some people say that meat consumption makes people grow taller. As far as I know there has never been a study which confirms this but it really does seem that the ethnic groups who use a lot of meat in their cuisine grow taller than the rest. Also Japanese people have grown a lot taller after we started eating more meat (thanks to western influence). So yeah it makes you wonder. What do you think?

Inuits eat more meat than any other ethnic group and they're very short. If meat consumption had a significant influence on height I think science would be able to confirm it quite easily. Personally I was never fond of meat and I still grew to 6'4.5".

What fawkes said. Japanese people have grown taller because their nation got wealthier and they started getting better nutrition, not because they started to eat more meat. You're not going to grow taller by eating more steak...

My father is a butcher so you know what that means. me a my sisters ate a lot of meat as kids, almost daily. if this theory was true I should be very tall but i'm only an inch taller than my father. my sisters are not tall either one's 5'3" and the other's 5 feet just like my mum. there's no way meat makes you grow taller. it would be great if it was that easy!

IMO it has more to do with overall caloric intake than the meat itself. You'll stunt your growth if you're literally starving and not eating enough calories to sustain growth. It just so happens that meat and milk are more calorically dense than most foods. Obviously genetics are still a limiting factor but you probably have more people reaching their max potential now that they're getting adequate calories as a kid.
