I haven't grown taller in 5 months. Is it normal?
#1
Hi I'm 14 years old, 5'6" and I haven't grow anything in the past 5 months. My parents are 6 feet and 5'5" and I grew 4 inches in the past year so I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to grow taller. I measure myself frequently and I always grow a little taller every 2-3 months, so why the heck haven't I grow any taller in the past 5 months?? This can't be normal right? I'm in puberty so I should be growing at a faster rate not slower. Should I go to a doctor?

You didn't tell us how developed you are. Can you grow facial hair and has your voice changed? To me the 5 month suggests that your growth is slowing down, and that you'll reach your final height soon, which will probably be lower than your father's. I could be wrong of course but normally kids in early puberty grow a little taller every few months like you said.

Are you eating well? Growth can slow down a lot if you don't get enough protein.

No it's not normal for that to happen in puberty unless you are nearly done growing or unless you were restricting your diet. Try eating large meals every day and see what happens. You're only 5'6" so it's probably a diet problem if those are your biological parents.

All of you guys saying it's not normal have no idea what you're talking about. Children can go for several months without growing anything and then they might grow a couple of inches taller in a few months. The rate of development is not uniform so don't worry about it. You can go to a doctor if you want but I'm sure he'll tell you the same thing so save your money.

But most children do not go for several months without growing taller. That's the point.
