Is this man's claim believable?

Question
There was a thread on another forum about a 6'4" guy who worked as a securities analyst in New York for 6 months, and in that year he said he encountered less than a dozen people who were taller despite encountering a lot of people. Now I know 6'4" is very tall but I think you'll come across >100 of taller people in 6 months in a large city like New York not less than a dozen like he claimed. What do you think?

No it's not. According to this chart more than 1 out of every 100 American men is 6'4 and about 1 out of 200 is 6'5:

Even if he's not social he should walk by at least 100s of different people daily in New York if he's working there, so on average he should see a taller man every day or two. But, most of those taller men would be only 1/2 of an inch to an inch taller. If by taller he means significantly taller (2+ inches) then I believe him because 6'6" men are very rare.

This 6'4" guy encountered one taller man here:

And I'm sure you'll walk past much more people daily if you work in Manhattan.

Just because he's living in New York doesn't mean he encounters a lot of people on a daily basis. Not everyone in New York goes to work by foot you know and securities analysts in hedge funds do not encounter a lot of people. If he's a strong 6'4" then I believe him.

If he's over 6'4" then I believe him.
