Are people finally starting to acknowledge Heightism?

Quote:Today in class we had a guest speaker for an elective course I am taking, I didn't catch his name or pay attention until he started talking about heightism.

He asked the girls in the class if they would marry a guy that was 5'10 and almost all of them had their hand raised, then he asked if they would marry a guy who was 5'9" and a significant amount dropped their hands. After that he said 5'8" and I shit you not more then half dropped their hands it got worse from their having almost no hands raised at 5'6".

This was a room of about 300 kids, now my confidence is already in the gutter just from past relationships & dates that haven't worked out.

But god damn whenever I hear shit like this my heart sinks into my stomach for some reason, short stature for a man puts you at such a disadvantage in the dating realm it's ridiculous, and it doesn't matter how confident you are.

I doubt it. Minorities had to fight really hard for equal rights and treatment. It's good to hear about things like this but let's not delude ourselves... most people don't give a damn about our plight.

Kids on reddit are usually not very accurate or inclusive of facts in their posts.  Nobody comes in to a college class to talk specifically about heightism.  He didn't even give any details about why this "speaker" mentioned what he said he mentioned or in what context.  He claims to be 5'9".  He's in the average height range.  What should men who are short in reality say?
